My Performance Pictures!

After much procrastination… here are some of the pictures from after my performance! We still haven't recieved any of the pictures taken from the actual dancing, but when we do I will be sure to get them posted! That last pictures is one of me and my little sister (who wants to be a ballerina horse rider when she grows up ;D )

Christmas Fun

Santa didn’t bring me what I asked for on my ballet wish list, but I was very blessed by what I did receive! I was giving some wonderful things but none of them compare to the feeling you get when you are spending time with family and remembering Gods great sacrifice for us.
I hope you all had an amazing Christmas! Did you get anything super cool?

As for my ballet life… it’s been slow. We are in the middle of our 3-week break and I’m going a little crazy! I haven’t danced in a week and a half!
I decided that it was unhealthy for me not to dance (my eye was beginning to twitch lol) so I stretched for a couple hours, and then decided to dye my old pointe shoes green! These are some pictures I took.

I hope you have a wonderful New Year!
P.S. I'll be uploading pictures from my big preformance soon! =D

10 honest things about yourself.

Rules:
List 10 honest things about yourself.

Ok here goes:

1. I am a facebook addict. I’m always on… I think it would be wise to seek help :P

2. I used to read at least 3 books a day. Now that I’m a senior I don’t have time anymore, and it makes me sad.

3. I love anything Victorian. My room is all old fashioned and I collect antique dresses and keep them in an antique hope chest.

4. I still watch Disney movies and my favorite is the Little Mermaid.

5. Sometimes I think I’m not learning enough because I’m home schooled and think that I won’t succeed after I graduate.

6. I’ve always loved Ireland, I’m not sure why though. Maybe God has something planned for me that involve Ireland and her people… I’m not sure yet.

7. I’m afraid I will never get married and be a mom because I’ve never had a boyfriend.

8. I always joke about how I am going to win the lottery and buy a castle in Ireland. But deep down I hope it comes true ;)

9. I was a vegetarian for a while because someone said I couldn’t do it.

10. I have pride issues that I am working on. I used to say that the only thing I feared was failure, I now realize that its pride.

Dance Update.

Dance Update.

So today was my first rehearsal/class since Thanksgiving break started on Monday. I got there early to stretch and warm up and I found out that one of the girls in the piece I am understudying sprained her ankle! So I am her as of further notice. We think she will be better by the performance (which starts Dec. 13th) but if not, then I get her part. I do of course hope she gets better soon!
Anyway today I did her part, and it was a killer! I haven’t danced in a week and then doing a 15 minute dances en pointe… well lets just same my legs felt numb!!!

Best wishes all! I have a lot of practicing to do!

Happy Thanksgiving all!!

In light of the season, I thought I would list 5things I am thankful for! Here I go…

1. My family. I am so blessed to have been born into my family, they love me and have done an excellent job taking care of me and teaching me about the Lord!

2. My Friends. Again I have been blessed with Christian friends who help me stay on the right path.

3. My Dancing! I thank God everyday for giving me a body that is so well equipped for ballet!

4. Technology! I don’t know what I would do without Internet access and my cell phone!

5. Good health. My family has been very blessed with good health.

So what are you thankful for?

I can't... I have rehearsal!

Oh man! I’ve been so busy! I’m not traveling 1 hour away every day for rehearsals! The performances begin on December 13. I’m excited but I’m also looking forward to being done! Sorry if I don’t update for a while, but with ballet, rehearsals and school, I’m super busy!!!

Peace out! (me resting between rehearsals at the theater).

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

** Though no one dared to leave a comment on my previous post, I hope you all understand how heavily this issue has been weighing on my heart.

Here in the Midwest it’s starting to get rather cold. I finally got to break out my winter jacket, scarves and boots! I don’t really care for the snow and cold, but I love winter clothing!
I can’t believe Christmas is only about a month away, I really should start thinking about gifts and such, but I think I will take some time and enjoy Thanksgiving first. Sometimes this holiday gets over looked because of Christmas, but I intend to fully enjoy eating way to much this year!

Rehearsals for our “Winter Celebration of Dance” are getting crazy! I have them about every day for the next 2 weeks because our performances are on December 13 and 14. Everything is starting to come together and I can’t wait to do everything in costume! I’ll try to get some pictures for you guys soon.

Best Wishes!

Abortion

“Q: Do you personally believe that life begins at conception?
A: This is something that I have not come to a firm resolution on. I think it's very hard to know what that means, when life begins. Is it when a cell separates? Is it when the soul stirs? So I don't presume to know the answer to that question. What I know is that there is something extraordinarily powerful about potential life and that that has a moral weight to it that we take into consideration when we're having these debates.”
Obama

This video clearly shows the answer to this question. Do not try to tell me that what you just saw can not be considered a person or alive.

I am going to state the fact of the matter clearly in one point:
If you are not prepared to have a child, then do not have sex. You can not be fully prepared to have a child unless you are married because a child needs both parents (though I understand that God has a different plan for some people). Thus simple logic would be that you should not have sex until you are married.
Don’t be selfish and give in to you own desires, there could be another being depending on you.

Winter Make over!

Well its getting cold where I live, and I thought it would be nice to give my blog a “winter feel”. What do you think? It is easy to read? Does it catch your eye?

Ballet update: I was called in last night to perform at a fundraiser, one of the girls I had been understudying was sick and so I took her place. It was a great opportunity (though I’m sad the girl was sick), I really enjoyed myself and I feel like I know what I need to be working on for our showcase (which has been given the name “Winter Celebration of Dance”).

A lot to say!

As I’m sure you all know, Obama will be out next president. I can’t say I was surprised that he won but I was very disappointed. What are your thoughts on his win?
All I have to say right now is “These are the times that try men’s souls” but God is in control and this is all part of His plan for us.

In other news, I’m really excited about one of my school projects! I’m going to write a paper (hopefully 3 to 5 pages) on a person who inspires me. I chose Alina Cojocaru, because she is my favorite dancer! Here is my opening paragraph! Please tell me what you think, I can use all the help I can get so let me know what changes I should make!

Alina Cojocaru, My Inspiration

Everyone has someone who inspires him or her, someone who motivates you to keep doing what you’re doing. Though I have never meet Alina Cojocaru in person, I feel as though I know her.

While searching though ballet images one day, I found stunning pictures of a slim brunette ballerina with gorgeous extensions and a love for ballet that could be seen even in the stillness of a picture. After much research I was able to find out whom she was and even had the good fortune to see videos of her dancing. I was awestruck by her talent and the joy I felt while watching her perform.

Blessings!

Love?

Thank you all for your patience, I know it’s been a while since I updated.
I’ve been feeling really down lately, and insecure. It seems like all my friends always have someone who likes them, and I’m always the odd one out. It makes you start to wonder what is wrong with you.
I’ll try to update with something happier soon.

"True love is when you shed a tear and you still want him.
It's when he ignores you and you still love him.
It's when he loves another but you still smile and say "I'm happy for you."
When all you really do is cry..."

Fat Talk

I used to think that was only a ballet thing, but I’ve come to realize that many young women struggle with weight. Wanting to be thinner, wanting to look like the women on TV is a huge issue! Watch the video below!

Who do you admire?

In general I admire all dancers who are better than me is some way. I love to go to youtube and see all the amazing dancers out there and see what I want to become. I found this video the other day and was in awe for hours!

I'm still in awe!!!
So whom do you admire? Why? How did you find them?

Horse Love!

Well here is an exciting update for you!
A few days ago I received a call from a woman that I had worked for a few years back. I was a Junior Wrangler Leader (AKA horse “trainer”) at a riding camp. She wanted to know if I would be interested in taking care of some of her horses for the year!

Now it may surprise you that I’m not only a full time ballet student… but I’m also a horse fanatic! So I was really excited about this. I talked to my parents and I got to OK, so I’m going to call her today and see if she still needs me! I will have the horse until April or May.
I’ll keep you posted!

P.S. I'm feeling 100% better!

My poor head!

Well its official… I’m sick. I hate admitting I’m sick, I always try to write it off as something minor that will go away if I ignore it. I couldn’t get away with that this time; I actually had to miss a ballet class!

But being sick has its upsides. I’m feeling a little woozy because of the medicine so I think that’s why I suddenly have the courage to share with you some of my creative writing. I hope you like it, but keep in mind I’m not very good at this sort of thing!

Lydia stood quietly for a moment in the primeval grove. The night sky was scarcely visible though the branches of the trees that surrounded her and the cool wind whipped at her jacket. This was not the first time she came here, back to the place where it happened, but tonight was different. She was finally going back.

Taking a deep breath she pressed onward, going deeper into the foreboding darkness. Leafs and twigs crunched under her bare feet but she hardly noticed, she was on a mission and nothing could deter her. She passed over a bubbling creek and under fallen trees, following the narrow trail she had walked so many times before.

Finally she saw it, a small pool of water nestled between the roots of a giant oak tree. Any other person would have dismissed as a puddle but Lydia slowly walked towards it and knelt down beside it. The water took on a faint glow as she peered over its edge and a warm gust of wind hit her face. It was starting.

Pride and Prejudice

I know I have talked about it before, but I have to tell you again!

I’ve read the book and watched every movie related to Pride and Prejudice, its safe to say I’m an addict (don’t worry, I’ll go to therapy someday). This is one, if not the best love story of all time! You can’t help but wish you were Elizabeth after watching, even though she goes though many hardships! It is also very "clean", unlike many love stories today.

So if you haven’t seen it…. GO RENT THE MOVIE NOW! PLEASE!

Homesick... for Ireland

"Every dreamer knows that it is entirely possible to be homesick for a place you've never been to, perhaps more homesick than for familiar ground."- Judith Thurman

I love this music (and the movie). Listening to it while looking at pictures of Ireland really makes me "homesick".

It came...

Well I finally got my letter. I have to say I was very disappointed. Apparently there were so many people who auditioned that they only had enough space to put everyone in 1 thing. I was placed in “land of the Sweets” which is part of the nutcracker. I’m not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing yet… my first rehearsal in Sunday, so I will know more then.

I also made understudy for La Valse, I was really upset about this. I really wanted to be a part of it, and I thought I did really well at this audition… granted there 60 girls auditioning and only 5 and 2 understudies would make it(so I guess I did ok…). Being an Understudy will be hard because I have to learn the parts while knowing that I probably won’t get to dance them.
I know that God has me where I’m supposed to be, and this will be a learning experience. I hope to post rehersal pictures as soon as I get some!

Best Wishes.

Big Audition!

Well I had my big audition today! I can’t tell you how nervous I was! I also had to teach my first older ballet class this morning and I think my nervousness about my audition showed, but other than that the teaching went well.

Anyway back to the audition. So there were quite a few dancers that showed up. It was hard to find room to do the combinations correctly, which got quite frustrating! I have a feeling that I didn’t do so well, but I won’t know anything until next week when they send out the letters! So until then I am going to be the crazy lady who waits next to the mailbox and scares the mailman!

Best wishes to everyone!!!

Ballet and a Drama!

So my first ballet class was great! It felt like I was returning home after a long time of being away, I missed it so much! And my hip didn’t bother me much, which was a great blessing.
Yesterday I had my first class with my new teacher. She is from North Carolina so she had quite the accent! I will have to take a few more classes before I make a judgment about her teaching though.

I’m also excited to tell you that I’m going to be in my first ever drama! Its called “Spiritual Starbucks” and I’m doing it for our youth group! I’m so excited (and slightly nervous) to see how it turns out.
The basic plot is that people come to the Spiritual Starbucks to order the type of religion they want. A lot of people order things like a “Triple Buddha Mocha Mohammed Latte” or “Wildberry Wiccan with a shot of Caramel Cult”, but no one wants to order a “Venti Full Strength Jesus”. I love the idea, and I’m a coffee addict so this is right up my alley. I’ll keep you posted!

Results

Isn't this picture beautiful? ^^

Well I went to yet another trip to the doctor and see my MRI results.

After sitting in the waiting room for about 30 minutes, we were moved to the actual doctor’s office where we sat for another 30 minutes. Finally the doctor himself showed up and told me that he didn’t know what was wrong.
So after all this time I am still no closer to discovering the reason for my hip pain! *sigh* But I thank you all for your prayers! At least I didn't find out I have to have surgery or somthing! :)

BUT! I do have so good news! I have enough students signed up to teach my three classes a week! I’m so excited to share my love of ballet with new students!

Stressful!

Wow! My life has been pretty stressful these past few days!

I have been working at the dance studio, doing shoe fittings and odd jobs for students. I’ve also been trying to get organized and ready to teach. Putting my student list and class times together has been a lot more work than I thought! And I will begin teaching my first class on the same day that I have a huge audition!
I have been worried about doctor issues too. I have another appointment on Wednesday to see how my MRI turned out. I am praying everything is fine.
I also started school today, which was nice. I enjoy learning, but with everything else going on it was a little crazy!

I know God has a plan and is trying to teach me something (probably to trust Him when things get stressful! Haha) I hope you are all fairing well!

Feeling Good

My MRI went pretty well the other day. Thank you for the kind words Judi! It wasn't as scary as I thought, and it was kind of relaxing laying there. I hope everything turns out well and that I don't have any serious problems with my hip.

In other news, its rainy were I live. For some odd reason I find myself in a better mood when it rains! Does anyone else experience this?

MRI

I went to Orthopedics today, and I have to go back on Wednesday and get a MRI. They still don’t know what is wrong with my hip, so I get to go be at the doctors for 2 hours. I just hope everything is OK and I’ll be able to get back to dancing when the term starts in two weeks.

Have any of you ever gotten a MRI? What should I expect?

Last Girls Night Out

I am so unbelievably tired! My friends and I had our last official Summer Girls Night Out, it was a blast but I stayed up way to late and can hardly focus on anything at the moment. I might have to run over to Starbucks and get some coffee (Starbucks = A Ballerinas miracle cure).

I start school on Monday, but I’m not sure how much I will actually get done because I have to visit Another doctor. I’ve been the doctor for a hip problem a few times and had some X-rays taken, but there is still something wrong… I hope I can get it all cleared up soon.

Anyway, I’m off to get some coffee!

When does your summer vacation end?

I’m also excited because my regular ballet classes start up in September! I’m going to be dancing or teaching everyday of the week, which will be great! I also have auditions coming up for our “junior company” and for other ballet programs.

North and South (BBC)

If you have seen Pride and Prejudice and enjoyed it, You will LOVE this movie.

Plot

Set against the backdrop of Victorian England's industrial north, it follows the fortunes of Margaret Hale, one of 19th century literature's most original heroines.

Played by Daniela Denby-Ashe, Margaret is a privileged, middle class southerner who is forced to settle in the northern town of Milton.

Margaret takes instant offence to the town and its people. She becomes terribly lonely and hates the dirt, noise and lack of civilisation, blaming their new way of life for her mother's ailing health.

Her distaste for the town and its people extends to handsome and charismatic cotton mill owner John Thornton, (Richard Armitage), whom she believes epitomises everything she dislikes about the North.

However, Margaret gradually begins to settle in Milton. Her social conscience awakens and she befriends some of the local mill workers, learning about their poverty and workplace struggles.

As events conspire to throw Margaret and Thornton together, the two spirited characters have to overcome their repressed physical attraction for one another and conquer prejudices of class and circumstance.
